Blood donation has long been a part of OU campus culture. From Greek life philanthropy events to athletics-affiliated drives, the Sooner community consistently shows up to support Our Blood Institute's mission of keeping Oklahoma's blood supply stable.
Campus Culture & Greek Life
OU Greek chapters regularly organize blood drives as part of their community service commitments. These drives are open to all OU students and community members, not just chapter members. Pre-health student organizations also participate, using blood donation as a way to accumulate community service hours and gain exposure to medical settings.
Athletics Drives
OU athletics-affiliated drives typically coincide with football season and other major sporting events, drawing large numbers of donors from the broader Norman community. These are excellent opportunities to donate while connecting with fellow Sooner fans.
How to Sign Up
Use the Donable platform to schedule your appointment at an upcoming OU campus blood drive or at the Norman Blood Donor Center. Walk-ins are accepted at the Norman center during regular hours. For campus drives, an appointment ensures your spot and reduces wait times.

✓ Bring These
- Valid photo ID (OU student ID, driver's license, or passport)
- List of any current medications
- A full stomach — eat a good meal beforehand
- Water — stay well hydrated
Good to Know
- 17+ donors do NOT need parental consent
- Wear a shirt with sleeves that roll up easily
- Plan for about 45 minutes total
- Snacks are provided after donation
